We rolled into Florence at the Firenze S. Maria Novella station, and conveniently, our hotel was located in the heart of the city, right next to the cathedral. As it wasn't a long walk, we strolled down the main street, and as the iconic cathedral came into view, I couldn't help but be struck with awe.

The sight triggered memories of Assassin's Creed as the superb architecture dominated. The cathedral, standing proudly at the center, and the street below was surrounded by a bustling mix of tourists and locals. It transported me back in time, imagining how people lived when the cathedral was first erected—stone homes all around us, shops dotting the streets. Every detail around us painted a picturesque scene, capturing the essence of Florence's rich history and architectural charm.

After settling into our hotel, we set out for Ponte Vecchio, the iconic bridge adorned with shops. Our journey was filled with multiple stops, starting with Piazza della Repubblica and the renowned Arco del Triunfo. The square hosted a charming market with vendors, a delightful merry-go-round, and stunning buildings all around added to the atmosphere. We decided to get some gelato, but I'm very sure we got ripped off a little (we paid €7 per). With our gelato in hand, we continued towards Ponte Vecchio, drawing comparisons to London Bridge for their shared feature of housing shops and people.

A walk along Ponte Vecchio led us to our next adventure—an ascent to Piazzale Michelangelo via bus, promising panoramic views of the city. The journey showcased beautifully designed and well-maintained homes, capturing our attention. As the sun set, we snapped numerous photos from the elevated viewpoint, regretting the absence of my professional camera that would have better done justice to the breathtaking scenery.

With the temperature dropping after sunset, we decided to descend the hill. Navigating through a maze of pathways and stairs, we reached the river. Armed with a bottle of wine, we found a charming restaurant, where we indulged in a classic dinner of pizza and pasta, savoring the delightful flavors against the backdrop of the enchanting city lights.

The following day, we left our hotel early, allowing us to admire the cathedral with a serene atmosphere. Against the backdrop of blue sky and the morning sun, the cathedral appeared even more stunning. Our attempt to secure tickets for entry was unsuccessful, but we shifted gears and headed to the Uffizi Gallery.

On our way to the gallery, we witnessed craftsmen diligently restoring the statue of Hercules outside Palazzo Vecchio. The city continued to unfold its treasures as we encountered numerous statues, including those immortalizing Michelangelo, Leonardo da Vinci, Galileo, Botticelli, and more, adorning the exterior of the Uffizi Gallery.

Inside the gallery, we found ourselves immersed in a world of sculptures and paintings. Despite it being a weekday and not yet the peak of summer, the gallery was busy with visitors. Room after room, we tried to absorb the artistic richness surrounding us. Among the iconic works we marveled at were the compositions of "The Birth of Venus," the captivating depiction of Medusa, and the touching portrayal of the Holy Family.
